Diy Web Design

Many people have attempt to self-build their own website using plain HTML, with a program such as Dreamweaver, or an online builder such as Pagemaker. All of these options are possible and most will archive good results.

Clients often come to me not knowing whether or not they should attempt to build their own site. Everybody's situation is different, but my answer is usually the same: "Yes, you are probably capable of building a great site, but is it really the best use of your time?"

Building your own website essentially comes down to a single trade-off, time vs. money. Building your own website will save money, but may take an enormous amount of time to produce a professional-grade product.

If you decide to self-build you will need a good design program (WYSIWYG) I would suggest Dreamweaver or maybe one of the many free flavor's that can be found at NONAGS.

Once you know exactly what you intend to publish and who the targeted audience will be, the next step is to determine the mood of your website. Should the ambiance be informal, professional or high tech? Will you use graphics, animation or music? How will the text be structured and which fonts will be used? How will visitors navigate through your site? Whatever you decide, try to maintain the same theme and conventions throughout your site.
